Immunoscore- A Path to Detect Colon Cancer Patients’ Immunity

Immunoscore is the first clinical test to assess a patient's immune system’s reaction to a tumor. This new technology could boost the prognosis of phase II and some low-risk phase III patients in colon cancer and provide additional details to doctors when deciding on chemotherapy. This helps to find out whether you need a colon cancer screening.

Immunoscore assesses the surrounding and accessing tumors of your body's immune cells, including lymphocytes. When used with TNM scoring, the tool widely used by doctors to allocate staging of an infection, Immunoscore is a promising way to predict the likelihood of recurrence for a patient and can lead to a customized treatment plan.

Immunoscore scores that can be referred to as a biomarker by physicians can be high or poor. High immune (ImmunoScore-High) infiltration levels suggest that the immune system of a patient is involved in tumor fighting and a lower recurrence risk. Low Immunoscore (Immunoscore-Low) means that the immune system of a patient is not so involved in tumor regulation and implies an increased risk of recurrence.

Immunoscore seems promising and recently the European Society of Medical Oncology has added the test as an alternative for tailored medicine to its 2020 Guidelines.

Many clinical trials have shown that Immunoscore can predict the patients are likely to be recurred and can help classify stage II patients with "high-risk clinical features." A second clinical trial is underway, however, to decide whether Immunoscore can accurately predict which patients respond to chemotherapy.

Immunoscore was the leader of HalioDx production and marketing by JérômeGalon at the Cordeliers Research Center in Paris.

To introduce immune parameters into tumor classification systems, The Society for Cancer Immunotherapy (SITC) Immunoscore Validation is a national, collaborative initiative. For all participating centres in the study, SITC played the critical role to promote contact and data transfer. Organized in cooperation with the European Academy of Tumor Immunology, the National Cancer Center, National Institutes of Health in the United States and the Melanoma Foundation in Italy.

This is a very technically advanced process to treat colon cancer. Do not worry and book your appointment with Screen the City in OKC. We will help you to conduct a flawless colon cancer screening.
