Colonoscopy Screen- New Study Revelation

In recent decades, incidence and mortality rates in colorectal cancer in adults aged 50 and older have declined steadily as a result, to a large extent, of colonoscopy screening in the United States. Seth A. Gross, M.D., Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine, and Director of Clinical Care and Quality at the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Division at NYU Langone Health, also stressed the importance of constant efforts to improve quality screening tests.

Complete Mucosal Inspection Targets Time

In order to improve detection of polyps and other lesions during colonoscopy, medical professionals are evaluating the technological advances. Dr. Gross of NYU and colleagues recently studied mannequin-assisted colonoscopy by means of Endocuff Vision, an enhancement in mechanical colonoscopy. Compared with normal colonoscopy adenoma and sessile tightened polyp detection rates showed a decreased inspection time.

In addition to measuring polyp detection, this randomized study focused on the withdrawal times for full mucosal inspection as the primary endpoint.

The study shows that doctors can perform an effective colonoscopy without compromising the quality of colonoscopy. Endocuff Vision is a short learning curve, as gastroenterologists have colonoscopy know-how.

These findings suggest that the mane device can provide easier mucosal visualization, maintaining adenoma rates while reducing retreat time in comparison to standard methodologies for colonoscopy.

Shorter inspection times, enhanced visualization

Results from the present study show that Endocuff Vision could potentially achieve the two objectives of detection improvements and colonoscopy more efficiently. The authors also note that previous, larger studies have shown that the Endocuff Vision is better to detect lesions in comparison with standard colonoscopy when the inspection times are equal.

Precancerous Polyps removed to save lives:

Investigators warn of the need to remove an Endocuff vision for safe navigation through the sigmoid colon, based on preceding studies.
